  • Papajojo's back with Yummy Macarons!

    Papajojo came back from France yesterday! Thank God for his journey safety and good health. Jojo and I were so happy to see him again at the airport. Despite the labour strike in Paris, he had a good working trip overall. He had time to visit several famous tourist destinations like the museums. Even though it was almost freezing temperature over there now, he didn't mind it at all! Cool dude. ;D

    Upon my request, he bought back these yummy french dessert called macarons. Thank you so much, Papajojo!! Kind of like biscuit but more airy and light. They look like colourful mini burgers with cream or jam fillings in the middle. Before leaving Paris for home, he painstakingly wrapped each of them in tissue paper so that they won't get crushed during transit. Tastes heavenly wonderful. Ouuuuu la la!! :>>

  • Papajojo Away.../ Birthday Party

    Papajojo left for France yesterday night for work trip. He'll be back next Thursday. Jojo and I already miss him so much even though he's only gone for a day. Hope he'll have a good time in Paris and take lots of photos to share with us what he saw during his trip. :)

    ===============================================================

    Last Wednesday, I brought Jojo to attend their playschool's mate, Joshua's birthday party at his place. Most of their playmates also attended the party after school. I baked some chocolate cupcakes and brought along to the party. The kids (& adults!) had fun decorating the frosting on the cupcakes with m&m chocolates and colour sprinkles. Other mummies also brought some homemake snacks like jellies to the party. It was a very fun time for Jojo to play with their friends at the playground while the mummies to chat with one another. Most of time, I only see and greet them while sending and fetching Jojo to school. I got to know more of them during our chat and really enjoyed the interaction with them. :>>

    Joshua's mom ordered a big cake which was decorated like a fish burger. Boy did it really looked like one! How I wished I could eat all of it in one big bite! Haha...

    Before the party ended, the mummies agreed to have another gathering soon. I'm looking forwarding to bringing along some baked stuff again to share with them and for Jojo to have fun playing with their friends. :>>

  • Homemade Takoyaki & Gyoza

    Last weekend, we bought ingredients for making Japanese Takoyaki (fried Octopus balls) and Gyoza (chinese dumplings) at the Japanese supermarket in Liang Court and did the cooking at home. As we didn't have the special pan for cooking Takoyaki balls, we made do with the electric pot and did a gigantic one piece Takoyaki pancake. The toppings were seaweeds and bonito (fish) flakes and okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise. It was delicious!! :>>

    As for the gyoza, I mixed the ingredients in the electric mixer. Then Jojo took turns to help me and Papajojo wrap the fillings in the wonton skins. It took Jojo quite a while to practice (and lots of reminder!!) not to put too much water on the wonton skin to seal the fillings as too much water will cause the skin to tear easily. Then we cooked the gyoza in the electric pot, and voila!! Yummy homemade gyoza!! Hope Jojo will have fun learning to make these simple home dishes and cook for themselves and us someday! ;D

  • IC Project: Coconut Ice Cream

    coconut ice cream

    When we were young, my siblings and I would chant this phrase to tease one another: "C-O-C-O-N-U-T, Kiss your boy/girl friend let me see!". Haha... seemed so childish now but it was fun then. :DD

    When eating at hawker centres, I love to buy a big, heavy fresh coconut (grateful thanks to the stall owner for making an opening of the fruit!) and use a straw to drink the juice while using a metal spoon to scrape the flesh within. Such a refreshing drink and dessert! The Chinese believe that the coconut is a "cooling" drink which can relieve the "heatiness" of grilled and spicy food. All the more good reasons to enjoy this yummy fruit! ;)

    Can't remember when I first tasted coconut ice cream but the moment I did, I was immediately wowed over by its creaminess and the nutty flavour. So here it is, my homemade coconut ice cream. Papajojo and I had a cool time eating all of it at one go.:p
